Nothing important is ever done alone
When initially building Cobalt, I was super adamant on building alone and not raising any money. I thought I needed to struggle and hit absolute rock bottom.
If you can build something alone, you probably are not building something valuable enough. Sure, you might be able to build small consumer apps, but for things that matter, I'm not too sure.
My thoughts on raising money have also changed. At the end of the day, it's just monopoly money. Building a startup is a grind. If you're gonna do it, you might as well struggle with people and have fun doing it.
My ideas of fulfillment have changed over the past few months. I used to think doing something really hard would provide fulfillment. But I think the answer now comes to building something that actually matters. It sounds so obvious, but I get caught up in my own lies. The vision of success clouds my judgment.
It doesn't matter how much equity you have or whether you're on pace to exit and make money. The only things that matter are the learnings, the people you do them with, and the people you are building it for.
I’m sure my idea of fulfillment will change, but as of May 2026, this is where I am at.
